Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is an incredible theme park located in Vallejo, California. A trip to Six Flags from Diablo Valley College is just 30 minutes, so this is a common excursion planned by IEC@DVC!
What is there to do at Six Flags? The park has incredible roller coasters and animal shows. Before you visit the amusement park, read these tips for visiting Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. It will make your experience more enjoyable.
Tips for Visiting Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Tip #1: Bring a light jacket
Temperatures drop when the sun goes down: be prepared! Even in the summer, the park can be very cool in the evening.
Tip #2: Store your belongings in a locker
The park has lockers that you can rent, so do not worry about carrying your belongings all day. Store your jacket and bag in a locker when you arrive.
Tip #3: Pick up a show schedule from the Explorer’s Outpost
Don’t miss one of their shows! Plan your trip around the schedule of shows for the day. Visit the park’s Entertainment page for information on the wildlife shows.
Tip #4: Plan your day using the park map
Most people enter the park and immediately get in the first line they see for a ride or roller coaster. This creates long lines for all of the rides at the beginning of the park . . . and very short lines for all of the rides in the back! Instead, start at the back of the park and try to work towards the front of the park if you can. When you are done, you’ll be close to the exit gates and won’t have to walk far to get to your car!
Tip #5: Visit popular rides early in the morning or after 5 pm
Most of the very popular roller coasters will have long lines. Avoid the lines if you can: visit these rides very early in the morning or after 5 pm. The lines are usually shorter during these times.
Tip #6: Bring a waterproof bag
There are water rides at Six Flags: don’t let your stuff get wet! A waterproof bag is a good idea. Make sure you wear clothes that can get wet, and consider bringing a change of clothes with you as well.
