This summer, we are honoring our student, Carlos Alvarado, by selecting him as our IEC@DVC Student of the Week! Congratulations, Carlos! We are so pleased that you are spending your summer with us and that you are improving your English.
Let’s meet Carlos.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I am from El Salvador, the smallest country (inside of the continent, not Island) in Central America.
Q: Which level of IEC class are you in?
A: Advanced B in both classes.
Q: Do you want to transfer to DVC?
A: In my case after this session, I will return to my home country to finish my major in teaching English as a second language.
Q: What is your dream school and what would you like to study there?
A: I would like to study a Master Degree in TESOL or any other major related with education.
Q: What was your favorite IEC activity?
A: Inside IEC I enjoyed the “Culture Day” and outside I liked the BBQ in Pleasant Hill Park.
Q: Name ONE food you would eat if you had to eat it for the rest of your life?
A: Pupusas (Traditional food from El Salvador).
Q: What do you miss about your home country?
A: My family and friends. The hugs of my children and I miss having dinner with them.
Q: If you were gifted $1M today, what’s the first thing you would do?
A: I will buy things that my family needs, and then I’ll invest the money in an education project for the community.
