IEC has just commenced our very first Spring Bridge program! Last Thursday and Friday, we welcomed 45 students from all over the world to our Spring Bridge orientation. Many of our bridge students are continuing IEC students, while many more have joined IEC for the first time this spring.
Currently, Spring Bridge offers two courses of English 162 – Language, Literature and Culture and Political Science 120 – Introduction to Politics. Both courses will earn passing students 3 transferable units that may be used towards transferring to a 4-year college.
Spring Bridge is a challenging, yet very rewarding experience for transitioning international students. It offers students an environment to grow and develop their academic skills while finding comfort in an entire classroom of fellow international students. The program is designed to enable students to reach their full potential through focused instruction, program aides, academic success workshops and study sessions. At IEC, we strongly believe that our bridge programs help students better transition into the academic lifestyle of an American community college.
Spring Bridge has many activities lined up for them to join. Our activities are designed to help expose students to American life and culture while providing short, fun breaks from their academic studies. Our activity lineup includes: a Lake Tahoe ski trip, a UC Davis tour, a trip to Six Flags and Great America, local barbecue parties and many quick outings to local ice cream, tea and shopping spots.
