IEC would like to once again congratulate Yuki Yamamoto for writing the winning essay for the Spring 2013 Abe & Nomura Scholarship. At the end of each session, teachers nominate outstanding students for their dedication to learning English, as well as their dedication to learning and exploring the American culture.
Yuki’s essay expressed great personal strength and dedication by applying to IEC and arranging her Visa interview on her own. Yuki detailed the difficulties she faced when she first arrived in America, such as being homesick and an unfamiliarity with assignments and American class formats. Despite the trials she first faced, Yuki persevered. She is enjoying her time in America and has had many great academic successes thus far. We know that Yuki will continue to thrive and will remain a great example of the advantages one can gain by studying with IEC.
Congratulations, Yuki! We are very proud of you.
